The Sitting Duck Podcast (SDP) is a mix of great independent music and some discussions about topical news, views and technology. Episodes run anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on how much there is to talk about, how much music I want to play and whether I decide to do something completely different!
The songs are mostly sourced from Mevio’s Music Alley and Ariel’s Cyber PR , but also through MySpace and personal contacts. Sometimes this can mean ‘mainstream’ music, but generally speaking you won’t find these artists on the radio and even less likely on the shelf at your local music outlet.
My favourite music is Pop, Rock and Acoustic, but I’ve also been known to play Alternative, Blues, Comedy, Country, Dance, Electronic, Folk, Funk, Groove, Holiday, Jazz, Lounge, New Wave, Reggae, R&B, Soul, Surf and World!
Your host is an IT professional in his early 40s who’s seen enough of life to start imparting some wisdom, but who recognises there’s still a lot to learn. You can have your say by emailing me atsittingduckpodcast@gmail.com or other methods as detailed on the Contact page.
The podcast is intended to be released weekly on Thursdays, though it remains to be seen whether I can be held to that intention.

Hi Allister/ Alastair (not sure of your spelling)
I’ve heard your contributions to the NosillaCast Podcast so i thought I’d see what your Sitting Duck Podcast was all about. I’m afraid I’m not into music very much but I really enjoyed listening to your latest episode and will continue to subscribe. Your audio is very professional and content is entertaining.
Look forward to your further appearances on the NosillacCast!
cheers

The first spelling is correct.
Glad you liked what you heard. I wasn’t really terribly into music myself for a long time. Though I had many favourite songs growing up, I never actively sought out new music. Until the advent of so-called “podsafe” music. Now I realise there is a ton of amazing music out there to be found – most of it not on the radio or TV. I am just one of many podcasters who seek out, sample and play what we like. It’s all above board through licensing brought about by companies like Mevio and Ariel Publicity. And we know the model works. Lots of music is sold by introducing it through podcasts. My own collection is ample proof of that!
